Step into history on December 8 and 9 at the Lowell Boat Shop’s Holiday Open House. The historic landmark is decorated for the holidays with rows of wreaths and a unique upside-down Christmas tree, hung from the loft. Inside, visitors can tour the shop, viewing examples of the famous dories, see demonstrations, and enjoy an art exhibit, produced in collaboration with the Newburyport Art Association.

For victuals, wine, cheese, and incredible homemade chowder will be served. Maritime gifts are available at the “boatique,” including mast hoop wreaths by artisan Pert Lowell, a range of ornaments, and heavenly cedar sachets. Festive tunes by Bill Perry and the Square Riggers will fill the air.

The open house is free to the public and takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Lowell’s Boat Shop is located at 459 Main Street in Amesbury, Mass. Visit lowellsboatshop.com or call 978-834-0050 for more information.
